Principals Nelda Matheny and Jim Clark have combined their knowledge and hands-on experience in arboriculture and urban forestry with a strong commitment to the education and development of practicing professionals.

Together they have co-authored four books that are used internationally as college texts, and universally as reference library essentials. Their articles on tree risk assessment, tree preservation, and best management practices for the arborist and urban tree manager are frequently published in professional journals and industry periodicals. Geared for people working in tree care, the articles are easily accessible and designed to help develop practical skills.

The significance of Nelda and Jim's publications have been recognized by their peers both in the United States and the international community through ISA awards from the Western Chapter, and chapters in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In appreciation of their work in furthering education, Nelda and Jim were awarded the Author's Citation from the International Society of Arboriculture in 1998, and in 2007 they received the Alex L. Shigo Award for Excellence in Arboriculture Education.
